In my house, Chocolate Chip cookies are a BIG deal. We like them buttery, a bit chewy, and often. When I figured out that I could put together a pretty simple KETO chocolate chip cookie recipe, it was a GAME CHANGER.
Plus, the cookie dough is super tasty too!
Keto Chocolate Chip Butter Cookies
I love all types of cookies but chocolate chip is definitely my favorite.
Oh, and, I like my cookies homemade! No store-bought Keebler Chips Ahoy for this guy. Not a chance.
But when I started Keto, my cookie cravings went through the roof. We’re talking about literal cookie dreams where I would wake up thinking I had just devoured an entire package of Oreo’s.
Yes, I’m a sugar addict. I’m working on that!
I needed to come up with a recipe to stop my cookie cravings in their tracks, and these easy keto chocolate chip butter cookies definitely did the trick.
Sure, they’re a little bit different than your original chocolate chip cookies, but they are uniquely delicious in their own right.
Ingredients In Our Keto Chocolate Chip Cookies
Our keto chocolate chip cookie recipe does not require too many crazy ingredients. I’m betting you have most of them in your pantry already.
We marry familiar chocolate chip cookie ingredients like butter, vanilla, baking powder, and an egg with some of our favorite keto staples – Swerve, almond flour, and Lily’s Chocolate chips.
The secret to making this a great cookie recipe is the use of two types of Swerve sweetener. We use both Swerve Confectioners and Swerve Brown. Together, this delicious combo yields a great cookie!
Keto Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
These cookies really are super simple to make.
We begin by mixing together the butter, both kinds of Swerve, the egg, and our vanilla extract until smooth.
Next, we mix in the almond flour and the baking powder,
Finally, we stir in the chocolate chips.
NOTE: For me, less is more on the chocolate chips, and I prefer fewer chocolate chips in my keto chocolate chip cookies (about 2 tablespoons). But, if it’s to your liking, add in up to 4 tablespoons without raising the carb count.
Shape The Keto Cookie Dough Balls
Begin by using a cookie scoop (or hand roll) to make 16 one-inch cookie dough balls.
Place the dough balls on a silicone baking mat, parchment-lined, or greased cookie sheet and bake for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes in the oven, remove the cookie sheet.
Press each cookie gently with a fork. Rotate 90 degrees and press with a fork again to form a crosshatch pattern.
Place the cookie sheet back in the oven and continue baking for an additional 18-20 minutes.
Once the cookies are finished baking, transfer them to a wire rack and allow to cool completely before eating.
While these cookies are quick and simple to make, you definitely want to let them cool completely before enjoying.
NOTE: Nutrition information is per one cookie.

So does it matter if butter is salted or not?
Also, wondering if coconut sugar may work ( more carbs I know)
Thanks!
I always use salted butter. I love the salty sweet taste it produces in these cookies. I would not use coconut sugar for these if you are trying to follow a low carb/keto diet. That said, I’m sure they would taste good.
My dough came oit crumbled. I used an extra egg and it didn’t matter, added a lil water still crumbled. I used Red MIll Almond Flour. Any idea why?
Thanks!
Mine came out really wet. I don’t think I could’ve rolled them into balls
Mine are to soft after 5 min. To do the cross pattern. Is this normal?
How many eggs its not listed in the ingredients?
1 egg. Sorry about that. Just updated the recipe.
if you can’t find swerve, or any brown sugar substitute, can you just use 1/2 cup powder or granulated swerve?
Yes, that should work.
Yes, plze reread the ingredients! It says 1 egg😁
How many cookies are equal to a see ing? Im sure I missed that part. Thanks
A cookie is one serving. The recipe makes 16 cookies or 16 servings. But they’re good and rich…it only takes one!
Just made mine and they look amazing! Haven’t tasted them yet but I did taste the batter which was super yummy. Made these as a surprise for my husband who has been taking his diet super seriously but is only eating like a rabbit. So excited that these look just like the pictures!
Amazing! Super easy!
I thought I had brown sugar swerve but do not. Can I use the regular swerve sugar replacement in lieu? Thank you!
Yes, you can. We’ve tried it both ways (with and without the brown sugar Swerve) and both worked. Bottom line, if you have the brown sugar Swerve, use it. If you don’t have it, don’t let that stop you from having cookies!
I know it says one cookie is one serving. I followed the recipe and I got 32 one inch cookies. I’m baking them as I text . Can’t wait to try them. 😍
Followed your recipe exactly. Only added about 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts to the batter. They baked up perfectly! I am going to keep this as my go-to chocolate chip recipe from now on. Just baked them and they do need to cool completely and they are so yummy, made 19 delicious cookies!
Can you use powdered lakanto monkfruit sweetener and lakanto golden sweetener instead of swerve?
I did and they turned out delicious.
This looks wonderful and on the immediate to try list. Has anybody used any other subs like Pyure perhaps? Thanks!
Omg, these are the best keto chocolate chip cookies I ever had!!
Awesome! I’m so glad you enjoyed them!
When i typically make chocolate chip cookies i use Half butter half coconut oil will that work in this recipe and I add pecans.
I made these. So good I can’t wait to try more recipes
So glad you enjoyed them. We’ve got many more great recipes coming out soon.
Could you use Natvia in place of Swerve?
Yes, Natvia should yield similar results to the Swerve. Let us know how they turn out!
DELICIOUS!! They were very easy to make & once cookie cooled off, they were perfect😋
I didn’t have any “brown sugar” so just used more confectioners and then added brown sugar extract. Turned out yummy. Great recipe, thanks!
Accidentally made without the egg as it wasn’t mentioned on the photo. Still came out edible but will try with the egg next time.
Hie
Looks very good but I am living in Switzerland where do I get the similar ingredients ? Like the sugar for instance
Thx a lot
Geraldine
Hi Geraldine! Most of the ingredients are available from Amazon, and direct links are provided for most of them in the recipe card.
Could I replace the swerve with honey?
Baking mine in the oven!!! I can already smell the goodness out of them!!!
Great cookies! I increased the number of cookies to 24 just sifted the flour. Also used white chocolate chips (my granddaughter loves them). Will be making lots of these!
I just finished baking these. They are a little dry and crumbly. Is that the way they are supposed to turn out? This is my first Keto recipe I’ve tried.
Hi Lynda, ours did not come out dry at all. In fact, they are always very soft and chewy.
Just made these and sooooo good!! I didn’t have powdered sugar so I just use brown sugar to replace the powdered, I do this with my regular chocolate cookies also and it works great. Super soft, chewy cookies! Thank you!!
Awesome! I’m so glad you loved these Jennifer!
Hi, can’t wait to try this. Instead of Swerve, could I use the Lakanto monfruit equivalents? Thanks.
Yes, absolutely! Lakanto Monkfruit sweetener should be a 1 to 1 replacement for the Swerve.
Thanks for your reply Scott. I just want to confirm, the baking temperature is 300 F? Seems low for baking but I haven’t done much keto baking yet.
Yes, 300 F is the correct baking temp. Keep an eye on them and do not over bake. Let me know how they turn out.
Made the cookies today just as you instructed, with the Lakanto equivalents, and they are excellent! I love these cookies! Thank you for a great recipe.
Just made these cookies and they were amazing!!Thanks for sharing the recipe!
So good! Everyone loved them! The kids and my parents who eat nothing but sugar. Thank you!
Ok…..I am sold and will be baking these lil gems today!
I made these and they are delicious but mines spreader thin and into each other. They are still so soft and delicious. Can you tell me what I did wrong?
Hello,
May I replace the almond flour to coconut?
Thanks!
First time making this recipe…I made a half recipe to taste test recipe. The cookies are delicious! A wonderful Keto sweet treat. I will definitely make the full recipe the next time!!!
My dough is was dry and crumbly as others have reported. What brand of almond flour do you use?
Hi. I dont have powdered swerve, can I use granulated?
This cookie recipe is very good. I’m a new comer to keto and almond flour is a bit gritty for me, but this cookie is the best so far that I have made.
sally
These are so good! I had so many left over I actually put some in freezer so that they won’t get bad! Now I can have one whenever! Thank you for this recipe!!
Can you use coconut flour instead?
Made these yesterday and they were so yummy! Making up two batches today with pecans added for hubby; he loved ’em!! I never thought I could enjoy such delicious cookies on a low carb diet. Thank you for posting this along with the tips!

Hello, can I use coconut flour instead of almond?
Just made these and they are delicious. I added more sugar after tasting the batter.
Do these freeze well?
I just made these are they’re super yummy! Texture is slightly different, but still good. I roughly a half bag of Lily’s Dark Chocolate chips in mine and with my cookies scoop, I was able to make 23 cookies! I calculated the net carbs with my ingredients and it came to 1.09 carbs per cookie
Is the serving size one cookie only ?
Are these soft cookies ?
I just realized I used blanched almond flour and was wondering why the consistency felt off 😂 so now I have mine chocolate chip muffins in the shape of cookies, overall delicious. The second batch I did add 1/3 c of Swerve Granular sugar and a little more vanilla extract, followed directions and they tasted like regular Chocolate chip cookie dough. Such a good replacement when craving a sweet tooth! Thank you!
I’m so glad you got it figured out Kelsey! These cookies are a family favorite in my house. Even the kids love them.
Can I use a different flour than almond? I usually use “keto flour” for everything
